Work With Us
We are a small senior team. From time to time we look for experienced people from European aerospace and defence backgrounds to join us.
How we find the next person
We hire through conversations, not job posts
Westworld is a small senior team. We deliver client work ourselves rather than passing it to juniors, and the right next person rarely arrives through a posted vacancy. The conversation usually starts here, with a CV and a short note from someone who has spent a career in European aerospace or defence and thinks we might fit how they want to work.
Who we'd like to talk to
Industry backgrounds, not consulting backgrounds
The current team came up through Airbus, BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, the British Armed Forces and the Tier 1 firms supporting them. Roles have included design engineer, development engineer, programme manager, quality manager, supplier auditor and business development manager. We most commonly look at people with one of the backgrounds below.
Time at an OEM, a Tier 1 firm or a defence prime is the most common ground. Examples are Airbus, Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems, Safran, Leonardo, MTU, GE Aerospace and equivalent. We are open to UK-based and Europe-based people. European travel is usually part of the job.
Engineers
Design, development, systems, programme and quality engineers from OEMs and Tier 1 firms.
Programme and project managers
People who have run aerospace and defence programmes inside major OEMs or in the Tier 1 firms that support them.
Business development and sales
Sales and business development people whose careers came up through industry, with first-hand experience of how European A&D procurement actually works.
Procurement & Supply Chain
Procurement and supply-chain professionals from OEMs and Tier 1 firms such as Airbus, Rolls-Royce and BAE Systems.
Military aerospace backgrounds
Royal Air Force, Army or Navy engineering trades — aircraft technicians, armoured vehicle specialists and the wider technical base of the Armed Forces.
How we engage
Full-time or part-time
We are particularly interested in working with people on a full-time or part-time basis who want to keep contributing to European aerospace and defence. We match the model to the person rather than slotting people into fixed roles, and conversations are open about what kind of working week makes sense.
What stays consistent is the level of involvement: the team here represents principals (the overseas aerospace and defence manufacturers we work for) at senior level, with named relationships and direct customer contact, with relationships that run for years.
What the work looks like
Direct contact with European OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers
The day-to-day work is helping the principal sell their products, services and capabilities into European programmes, and the shape of it varies by background. People on the commercial side lead conversations with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers: programme positioning, RFQ negotiation, trade show work, and the sustained relationship-building that European aerospace and defence procurement runs on. People on the technical side support those conversations with engineering depth: capability presentation, technical Q&A, RFQ engineering input, and supplier qualification.
Alongside the customer-facing work, we report regularly to the principal on pipeline progress, liaise with their sales and engineering teams, and act as an extension of their team whilst part of ours.
All client work is bound by NDA. Confidentiality matters: the firm does not discuss principals publicly, and the team handles commercially sensitive information carefully. Travel across European aerospace and defence markets is a normal part of the work.
Why this might suit you
What you'd get out of joining a small senior team
Stay close to the industry
Stay close to European aerospace and defence work without the overhead of running your own consultancy or chasing your own clients.
Senior-level autonomy
The work is delivered by the named team. You are the person in front of the customer, not a layer above someone who is.
Long-relationship clients
Westworld typically works with principals for years. Relationships, not pipelines, are the unit of work.
Experienced colleagues
A small team of people with deep aerospace and defence backgrounds. The day-to-day conversations are with peers who have done the work themselves.
Getting in touch
Send a CV and a short note
If the page resonates, please send a CV and a short note to [email protected]. Tell us where you have worked, what kind of role you would be interested in, and what you would want from a conversation. We aim to respond within ten working days.
There is no application form and no listed role. The page is for the conversation, not the transaction.
